Catholics Come Home, which originated in the Diocese of Phoenix in
1997, is a welcoming and reconciling ministry for Catholics who left
the Church for a period of time and are now looking into the
possibility of returning. Without pressure, Catholics Come Home
sessions offer an opportunity to learn the truth about the Catholic
faith and provide a healing atmosphere for returning Catholics. At
weekly meetings, participants can openly share their feelings about
the Church and hear about the spiritual journeys of others. Speakers
address fundamental issues which might have been obstacles in the
spiritual growth of participants. Group discussions enable each person
to talk about what caused him/her to leave the Church and what is
needed to come back into full communion.
Returning Catholics past experience might include resentment, and or
divorce, isolation. apathy or just being a rebel. We want to make it
easy for anyone who is not fully practicing the faith to return home.
The program runs for eight weeks, offered at least once a year.
Although a person can return to the Church anytime, this program is an
especially effective way to reestablish relationships within the Body
of Christ. The common topics covered are: Memories of the Church,
Faith & Doubt, Prayer...Mary & the Saints, Marriage & Annulments,
Eucharist, Reconciliation, Personal Relationship with Jesus. This
program is concluded with a day of reflection or retreat. The
invitation is warmly extended |
