“Let there be light!” The famous sudden burst of C major – a signature moment in Western music – as the word of God transforms primordial chaos into blazing light opens this magnificent oratorio.

Joseph Haydn’s gift for ‘special effects’ in music summons visions of wild waters, the first dawn and the creation of living creatures, including a wittily flirtatious Adam and Eve. The sixty-member orchestra perfectly compliments the chorus of two hundred reveling in the glory of it all in the grandest Handelian manner.
