Pipe Organ Encounter (POE) for Children and Adults - MASTA Educational Series:
All aboard, all aboard!! Today we will depart Saint Thomas Aquinas, via charter bus, traveling to Central Phoenix and the East Valley. En route to Central Phoenix we hear the history of the Pipe organ and learn how the Pipe organ gained the title "King of Instruments." We visit a local Church in Central Phoenix where we will enjoy a short organ recital. Following the recital we will have the opportunity to crawl through the organ chambers, where the pipes are located, where we will learn how the instrument works to produce sound. We depart Central Phoenix and travel to the East Valley.
In the East Valley we visit another local Church - this Church has the largest Church pipe organ in the State of Arizona, recently installed in the fall of 2008. We will enjoy a brief recital and continue our discussion on how the organ functions.
Our last stop on the trip is Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, Arizona. We will enjoy lunch and a recital on the Mighty Wurlitzer. Following lunch and the recital we return to STA. On the return trip we will have a question/answer period.
