Dear Friend in Christ,

Have you ever walked into a dark room and, without turning on a light, started a conversation with someone who you weren’t sure was there?

Of course not. Why would you start talking to someone whom you didn’t know was there?

It’s easy to feel that prayer is akin to such un-human silliness. Praying can feel childish or even nonsensical—like talking to an imaginary friend. Shouldn’t we grow up and move past this kind of thing?

The good news is that prayer is not at all such a thing. It is very human because it is meant to be an experience of a real relationship. And I know a way to turn the light on in your prayer life.

Do you want someone to help discover a deeper experience of prayer? If so, I’m here for you. Come and join me this January for a three part series called “Soul Food”. I’ll walk you step-by-step through a process that will help you engage prayer in a more dynamic and rich way. It will be on Saturday, January 14, 21 and 28 from 9-10am at St. Clare Hall.

You don’t have to be Catholic or have any special background to benefit from the series. You just need a willingness to try some Soul Food. Please bring a Bible. I’ll bring the light.

See you soon,

Fr. Muir
