SACRAMENT PREP FOR Our
HOMESCHOOL COMMUNITY
HOMESCHOOL SACRAMENT PREPARATION
Elementary Sacramental Preparation is for all youth in 2nd - 5th grades. The Diocese of Phoenix is a restored order diocese, which means that both Confirmation and First Communion are ordinarily celebrated in 3rd grade. Elementary Sacrament Prep is a two-year program that will prepare our youth for reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, Confirmation, & First Communion.
Year one (2nd Grade / ages 6-7) focuses on First reconciliation, whiLe Year Two (3rd Grade / Ages 8-9) Is COnfirmation & Communion.
Sacrament Prep is often a built-in part of catholic homeschooling. Those families who are participating in our St. Thomas Aquinas Homeschool Community (STAHC) can utilize that community and the built-in preparation to get ready for the Sacraments of Initiation they need. The only other requirements would be a yearly one-day retreat held on campus, an in-person end-of-year review (for year two), and the regular submission of paperwork for that year.
the coordinator of STAHC can assist in approving your curriculum’s sacrament prep. In the case that it is not approved, or you use a non-catholic homeschool curriculum, you’ll need to utilize our regular sacrament preparation, which can be found here.
once a month is a SUMMA Night, specifically made so that while the parish youth are doing their classes, we host a lecture series for parents (and all adults) in the church where you’ll have formation specifically for YOU by amazing speakers. even without your children in those classes, you’re welcome to attend SUMMA. Check out more on SUMMA here.
if you are looking for paperwork, Calendar, and resources, find it all here.
